- Receive a large-format copy of your work, printed to your specifications
Influence Graphics’s annual visual communication design scholarship is offered for students majoring or interested in design and applied arts or graphic design with strong academic records and outstanding creative abilities.
To be considered, all submitted works must be digitally created, and be based in visual communication design. “Visual communication is communication through visual aid and is described as the conveyance of ideas and information in forms that can be read or looked upon. Visual communication in part or whole relies on vision, and is primarily presented or expressed with images, it includes: signs, typography, drawing, graphic design, illustration, Industrial Design, Advertising, Animation color and electronic resources. It also explores the idea that a visual message has a greater power to inform, educate, or persuade a person or audience than text, or text alone.” (Wikipedia)
In other words, create something awesome! Use this opportunity to promote something: inform of a cause, advertise a product, show off your talent as an artist, the sky is really the limit.
The winner and five finalists’ work will be featured in a public gallery on the Influence Graphics website, a site visited by industry-leading professionals who rely on our printing technologies and services including creative directors, production managers, designers and artists. The winner will also receive a large-format (up to 96×48 inch) copy of their work, printed on our state-of-the-art HP/Scitex HP 700 large format printer or our Digital C Lightjet photo printer, printed to the winner’s specification.
2017: Adel Wu (Awarded Feb, 2018)
Congratulations to our 2017 scholarship winner, Adel Wu! Adel is majoring in Digital Media Design at the University of Pennsylvania.
Adel believes that “Art can change our physiology, elevate our heart rate, release endorphins, make us cry, stop us in our tracks in wonder and awe. Art is the message sent out to the world, to yourself, to others, to god or the infinite void: I am here, I am engaged, I am questioning, trying. I hope my art and work will eventually have this kind of reaction in the future, affecting and influencing people everywhere.”
Adel’s winning entry can be seen below. Her strong interest with nature leads her to strongly believe in conservation and the negative effects of global warming. She hopes that her illustration shows people that nature is not all indispensable and trivial; there is a real living being behind all of it that is slowly being killed by pollution, deforestation, disease, and more.
